Latpanchore

This is a small village amidst the thick forest of Cinchona plantation, on a hilltop of Mahanada Wildlife Sanctuary. There is a bungalow in the heart of the forest, which is the main attraction.

Mahanada Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary is known for sheltering some rarest of species of animals like one horned Rhino, Bison, Elephants, Tigers, Leopards, Sambar and Cheetals.

Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary is known for its rich bio diversity. It serves as a home for many species of Elephants and Bisons. There is a watch tower situated in its premises from where you can enjoy the breath taking view of the whole of the sanctuary.

Bhutanghat

45 kms away from Alipurdua there is a picturesque beauty, close to river Raidak that borders Bhutan. It is known as Bhutanghat and is worth a visit while you are in Dooars.

Buxa Fort

This spot is in Buxa Tiger Reserve. Tourists come here to witness the ruins of the Detention Camp which was used by the British Government for detaining freedom fighters of our country long time ago.

Gorumara National Park

The Gorumara forest, declared as a sanctuary in 1976 and recently declared as a National Park is yet another park that is a home to the Great Indian One horned Rhinoceros, Elephants and bison's. This Park also has a forest bungalow in its premises with proper facilities.

Sumsing and Suntalekhola

Nature lovers will love it here as this place is getaway into the divine nature. If you are looking for a getaway from the daily hectic then this is the place to be as it will inject peace into your system and will carry you into the depths of tranquility.

Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary

This is another famous forest of Dooars offering the visitors the famous Elephant Safari and Jeep Safari. It houses the largest majority of the rare one-horned rhinoceros in India, along with various other species of animals, birds and reptiles.

Lava – Lolaygaon

Lava, boasts the picturesque view of the Jelep La and Reche La passes. It is situated at a convenient distance from the Neora Valley National Park. The lands of this place hold plenty of Oak and fir trees. But you should take a note that before accessing the forest, you need a permit from forest department.

Phuntsholing

This town is a gateway to Bhutan from India. It is worth a stop as it offers many scenic sites, with beautiful and picturesque mountains and hills and number of appealing water bodies.

  • Dooars means 'doors' in Assamese, Bengali, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Magahi and Telugu languages.
  • The economy of Dooars is based on three "T"s – Tea, Tourism and Timber.
  • The Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indian army and Indian Air Force have a large presence in the area as the region is near the international borders of Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh.
  • The Dooars act as doorways to Bhutan therefore the export-import industry also flourishes in the area. Jaigaon, Siliguri and Phuentsholing are important hubs of the export-import industry.
  • Rare endangered species of animals like tiger, rhinoceros and elephant make their habitat in the forests of the Dooars
  • The main mode of transport in the area is roadways. Most of the places are well connected by roads. NH31.
  • Asian Highway AH48 is being constructed through the Dooars region.
